Q: What do I need to bring with me to my first appointment?
A: Please bring any medical history you may have that you wish to share with the doctors as well as a complete list of all of the medications (and dosages amounts) you are currently taking. If you are taking any herbal supplements or vitamins, please bring a list of these as well. Also bring your insurance card and driver's license. You will have some paperwork to fill out that we will send you in advance of your visit, please fill this out and bring it with you.
Q: Will I have to wait for a long period in your waiting room?
A: Typically, we run on schedule with appointments. In some cases, a particular patient's needs may take a little longer than anticipated at the time of scheduling. Dr. Andrews is committed to providing each patient the time and attention they need. Should this cause us to run behind, please know that you will also have this same consideration with Dr. Andrews should you need it. Additionally, we do provide a wide assortment of reading materials as well as a television within our waiting lounge.
Q: Do you handle the dealings with my insurance company or do I?
A: We handle the billing for your appointments and procedures. You will need to provide us with complete information and any forms the insurance company may have given you. We can work together on appeals for claims that are denied. We have information that we can provide to the insurance company that can be useful in helping them to understand certain procedures. For your prescriptions, you will need to work with your insurance company for your reimbursement. We do collect office visit co-pays with each appointment.
Q: How do you handle prescription refills?
A: The PainCare Center is not a pharmacy. We do not take patients under our care solely to write prescriptions. We approach pain by seeking to find the underlying cause of the problem and then apply a procedural approach to treat that cause. Often, this does not involve a prescription. If we do prescribe a medication, we will follow your care and treat you according to the specific plan we have devised for you.
